Career criminal’ arrested amid investigation into Super Bowl reporter’s death

Twisted Encounter: ‘Career Criminal’ Arrested in Connection with Super Bowl Reporter’s Mysterious Death

A shocking twist has emerged in the investigation of a sports reporter’s sudden death while covering the Super Bowl—leading police straight to a woman with a lengthy criminal past.

Authorities have arrested 48-year-old Danette Colbert in connection with the mysterious death of 27-year-old Adan Manzano, a sports anchor and reporter for Telemundo Kansas City and Tico Sports. Manzano, described as a “true professional and a rising star,” was found dead in his hotel room on Feb. 5.

According to Kenner Police Chief Keith Conley, Manzano’s cellphone and the credit card he used to check into his hotel were missing when officers arrived. Surveillance footage revealed that Manzano entered his room with a woman around 5 a.m. that morning. The woman, later identified as Colbert, left the room alone—and Manzano was never seen alive again.

Colbert, whom police describe as a “career criminal,” has a history of drugging victims and stealing their belongings. Officers tracked her to New Orleans, where she was arrested and is now awaiting extradition to Kenner. During a search of her home in Slidell, investigators discovered Manzano’s stolen phone and credit card, along with narcotics and a stolen gun—though authorities do not believe the weapon played a role in his death.

At this time, Colbert faces property crime charges, but more serious charges could follow as the investigation continues. Conley has not yet disclosed Manzano’s official cause of death.

In a disturbing development, the Kenner Police Department revealed that they have received multiple calls from individuals reporting similar suspicious deaths or incidents involving Colbert.

Tragically, Manzano’s death comes just one year after his wife was killed in a car accident. He leaves behind a 2-year-old daughter, who is now in the care of his late wife’s family in Topeka, Kansas.

“She plays the confidence game. She is definitely a career criminal,” Chief Conley stated, as investigators work to uncover the full extent of Colbert’s involvement in this growing web of crimes.
