A Las Vegas neighborhood is reeling after a man allegedly killed his father—and blamed alien voices for the horrifying act.
Police Discover More Than a Medical Emergency
On February 5, Las Vegas police responded to a house on Caprock Canyon Avenue after receiving a report of an unresponsive elderly man. Paramedics initially assumed natural causes, but officers quickly noticed inconsistencies. They called in homicide detectives to investigate further.
Soon after, detectives identified Eun Jin La, 73, as the victim. He had suffered a gunshot wound to the back of the head. His son, Timothy La, was not present when police arrived, but he returned home shortly after. Officers arrested him on the spot.
A Troubling Mental State and Bizarre Claims
According to court documents obtained by KLAS-TV, investigators questioned La, who offered a disturbing explanation. He claimed he was trying to “save a worker” from being tortured. He believed that this ‘worker’ was wearing his father’s face.
La’s story didn’t end there. He also told officers that aliens instructed him to carry out the killing. He described feeling like he was on another planet and believed his actions were part of a larger mission.
La’s mother told police her son suffered from a medical condition, though the exact diagnosis remained redacted from the arrest report.
Facing Serious Charges Without Bail
Police charged La with open murder using a deadly weapon. During his court appearance, a judge denied him bail, ensuring that he remains in custody while the investigation continues.
This case has sparked concern across the community, highlighting the complex relationship between mental illness, delusions, and violent behavior. Was this a tragic crime born of psychosis, or something even more unimaginable?
